ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Becky Katz was the City of Atlanta’s first Chief Bicycle Officer. In this role she worked across city and state departments and with the public to make Atlanta safer, easier and better by bike. Her main initiatives included overseeing the Relay Bike share system, increasing the city's bikeway mileage through the Renew Atlanta Infrastructure Bond/TSPLOST and other capital programs and leading Cycle Atlanta planning study. She was recently accepted into a prestige fellowship and is moving to Germany for a year to deepen her experience in civic participation and public realm design. Before moving to Atlanta, she attended Cornell University for civil and environmental engineering. After graduating she went on to complete her Masters in civil and environmental engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia. Her academic research focused on community oriented engineering design.
