Secretary of State Brian Kemp and State Representative Barry Fleming will co-chair the Secure, Accessible, & Fair Elections (SAFE) Commission’s first meeting on the morning of June 13, 2018 at the Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center in Marietta. This bi-partisan, eighteen-member commission is tasked with studying options for Georgia’s next voting system to provide recommendations to the General Assembly by year’s end. All interested media and members of the public are encouraged to attend.
In the first meeting, commission members will adopt a calendar, review Georgia’s current voting system, learn about the state’s procurement process for a new system, and solicit public feedback to frame the Commission’s objectives moving forward. The meeting will include a public comment portion at the end, and a court reporter will transcribe the proceedings from start to finish.
Seating is limited to approximately 150 people and will be first come, first serve basis.
