Southern Fried Queer Pride & Maddy Laing are proud to present the second showing of "In Memory Of: Honoring Trans Lives & Losses", a gallery show, for Southern Fried Queer Pride 2018!
"In Memory Of: Honoring Trans Lives & Losses" is a group show featuring portraits of trans folks killed in hate crimes, created by a variety of Southern artists. The show was curated by trans artists and activist Maddy Laing. The goal of the show is to create a space and time to honor trans folks who have been killed in hate crimes, as well as engage people of all intersectionalities and identities to take a stand against this issue. Portraits were created in a variety of mediums, from paintings to zines to ceramics. There will also be an installation honoring the 23 trans women of color who were killed in 2017. Feel free to bring a memento or object of importance to add to this piece.
This event is a intentional space for trans folks. No form of hate will be tolerated.
The gallery opening takes place Thursday, June 21st at 6PM at The Bakery Atlanta. This event is all ages and free. The gallery will run until July 1st.
