This month, we are pleased to welcome Cobb citizen, community advocate, and transportation rabble-rouser Ron Sifen! With Governor Deal signing H.B. 930 into law earlier this month, Cobb County is now faced with several important decisions regarding how to implement the new law. Ranging from levying a county-wide tax to pay for new transportation and transit projects, carving out a special district containing the Cumberland and South Cobb areas, or simply bringing MARTA itself over the county line, the county commission and our legislative delegation have a lot of options to consider. Ron will be sharing his ideas on these and other transportation issues. He is a past President of the Cobb County Civic Coalition..., and currently sits on a variety of committees and boards including Commission Chairman Mike Boyce’s transportation advisory team, Cobb County’s Braves Task Force, the Cobb County Transit Advisory Board, and GDOT’s citizen advisory board for Revive285. In addition, Ron has been writing columns in the Marietta Daily Journal for the past 9 years on traffic issues, zoning and development, and other taxpayer-related issues.
Also, we hope you’ll become a lifetime member and continue joining us monthly. You’ll have a chance to meet some of your closest representatives and involve yourself in the political process. We look forward to seeing you at the House of Lu in the Marietta Square! Because House of Lu is graciously offering to host us, we’d like to encourage you to plan on having a meal or a few drinks with us. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
