Sprang is an ancient textile method with unlimited contemporary uses! Worked on a set of threads that have been arranged on a frame, every row of sprang yields two rows of cloth, one the mirror image of the other. Start with a pre-warped frame and jump right into your exploration of flat-warp sprang and the interlinking stitch. On day one, you'll finish a small hat or drawstring bag while you polish your technique and learn how to deal with mistakes. Then you'll put a new warp on your frame. On day two, you'll explore circular warps (which let you create cloth twice the length of your frame), surface design options (colored warps and lace patterns), pattern reading and writing; and shaping for a diverse range of garments. Intrigued? Check out this basic sprang introduction video and sign up today!

Carol James learned to embroider and to crochet before she entered kindergarten, so she has been playing with strings for a long time. Introduced to sprang in the mid-1990's, Carol has resurrected this ancient technique and made accessible to everyone through her publications, books, and workshops. She is now known as the Sprang Lady and is a world-recognized sprang instructor.
