Come learn about the geography of the Chattahoochee River from top to bottom! The river wetland is a beautiful area full of paths, hills, and scenic views to hike and explore, but learning how to find your way around beforehand is vital! This month will focus on spatial thinking and comprehending areas and places using different interactive mapping activities. Students will be introduced to reading maps, legends, topography, cardinal directions, and determining distances. They will have the chance to “map” a wetland area of the nature center as well!
If there is time before the session and you want to get started with maps, have your students find your home and the Chattahoochee Nature Center on a map. Then have them figure out the approximate distance they have to travel to get to CNC from home. We can compare distances when we meet!
This program is designed for children ages 5 – 13; Included with General Admission/CNC Members FREE.
