Learn some bite-sized chunks (not sushi) about one very interesting aspect of one of Earth's more fascinating cultures. Hear about how kanji came to be used, and modified, and extended, by the Japanese over a course of over ten hundred years!
Kanji can look really cool, are interesting in their history and construction, and, once learned, can be used to communicate with oneself and others.
This event is $2 for non-Freeside members + FREE for members!
This meetup will involve:
— a discussion of the development of the Japanese writing system
— an explanation of an efficient way to memorize the meanings of, and ways to write, kanji
— a description of another three steps toward being able to communicate pretty well in Japanese.
Whether you want to speak and read Japanese, or whether you just want some insight into how kanji work, and maybe to learn one or a few specific kanji, you'll probably really enjoy thus meetup.
